LITTLE FALLS-MOHAWK - Brenda K. Jaquays, age 73, of 550 John St., Little Falls, NY, formerly of Mohawk, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica.
She was born on March 6, 1938, in Herkimer, the daughter of John and Lois (Nabinger) Knight, and graduated from Mohawk High School in 1956. At one time, Brenda managed Community Residences for sixteen years at HARC. Most recently she was employed in the Admitting Dept. at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica, for ten years, retiring in 2010. Brenda enjoyed her time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking.
Survivors include her children, Michele Jaquays and Melissa Jaquays, both of Mohawk, Eric Jaquays, of Little Falls, Colin Jaquays, of Colonie, NY, and James Jaquays, of Lockport, NY; her mother, Lois Knight, of Herkimer; five grandchildren, Amber, Colby, Bethany, Joshua and DeAnna; two brothers, Steven Knight, of Herkimer, and Michael Knight, of Utica; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Gregory; her father, John Knight; and grandson, Terence Jaquays.
A Contemporary Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012, at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, with Don Applegate, moderating. Spring interment will be at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls.
Calling hours are Sunday, January 8, 2012, from 12 noon to 2:00 p.m., at the Applegate-Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Rd., Ilion, prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to HARC, 350 S. Washington St., PO Box 271, Herkimer, NY 13350, or Mother Bernadine Fund, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 2209 Genesee St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
The Jaquays family have entrusted all funeral and burial arrangements and supervision to Don Applegate, Funeral Director.
