MILLERS MILLS - Betty Herringshaw died December 19th, 2024, at home with her loving family at her side. Having retired from 15 years at Bonnie’s Arts and Crafts, she spent much of her time in yard work, domestic crafts of all sorts, babysitting and projects the family needed done. She remained active as wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother up until a couple of years ago.
She was the daughter of Edward and Ella (Eckert) Young. Born in Millers Mills, NY in 1931. A second of fifteen children, she graduated from West Canada Valley School and married Joseph I. Herringshaw. Together they had four daughters. Patricia Furner (Charles) of Richfield Springs, Kathy Cole (John) of Herkimer, Joy Piscione (Ralph) of Litchfield and Betty Jo who passed away shortly after birth. Later, After Joseph's passing of heart disease in 1963, she married Albert Herringshaw in 1966.
For the next 58 years they enjoyed an expanded family with three loving sons-in-law, eight grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Amanda Kolath (Brady), Joseph (Mary) Furner (Caroline, Benjamin), John J. Cole, Jeffrey (Ashley) Cole (Ruby, Lucy), Rebecca Wheelock (Kevin) (Elle, Chase), Christina Beckwith (Eric) (Abigail, Cal), Anne Marie Jones (Daniel) (Lauren, Addison, Owen), Alicia Walker (Christopher) (Mia, Caden, Megan).
Betty served as Deacon, Secretary of Ladies Aid of Millers Mills Church and was an officer of the Millers Mills Grange.
Surviving are sisters Kay “Honey” Davenport, Joanne Putney, Fay Shook, Donna Frazier, Peggy Wheelock, and brothers Dick and Danny Young. Sisters-in-law, Iva Kast, Louise Kretchmar, Sandy Buck, Judy Eckler, Kay Balch and brother-in-law Tommy Herringshaw.
She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Edward J “Sonny”, John “Jack”, Jimmy, and sisters Barbara Miller, Bonnie King, Nancy Gould and Norma.
Thanks to the many nieces, nephews and friends who dropped in to visit. Betty enjoyed visitors.

Visitation will be Friday January 3rd from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Applegate, Day & Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Frankfort / Ilion.
Memorial Service Saturday January 4th 11:00 AM at Millers Mills Community Baptist Church.
