Mrs. Bertha "Bert" Marie (Horhammer) Wagner, 93, a long-time resident of the Galinsky Apts., and most recently of the Mohawk Homestead, passed away on Sunday morning, September 4, 2005 at Valley Health Services. Mrs. Wagner was born on January 29, 1912, a daughter of Franz and Anna Horhammer, in Bechofen, Germany. She was educated in schools in Germany. On June 7, 1930, she was united in marriage to Joseph Wagner in St. Johnsville. They shared a blessed union of 52 years. Mr. Wagner passed away on October 3, 1982. Bert was formerly employed with the Allegro Shoe Company and retired after 18 years of employment. She was of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and loved to read. Her most important focus in life was her family centering her life around her loved ones and home. She cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and her great, great-grandchildren. She is survived by three loving daughters, Rita Biasi of Steubenville, OH, Margot Leshinski of Middleville, and Magdalene "Sue" Grau and her husband Joseph of Herkimer; a sister-in-law, Maria Dechert of Germany; many special grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Andrew Leshinski, and two beloved great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Leshinski and Tamara Swiger. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at the Holleran & Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. Her funeral will commence at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2005, from the chapel of the funeral home and at 10 a.m. at St. Francis deSales Church, Herkimer, with the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor, officiating. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, Town of Herkimer, where Mrs. Wagner will be laid to rest. Mrs. Wagner's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Rose Lanphere and the entire staff of Valley Health Services and Dr. Sharma for their kindness in caring for Bert. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mohawk Homestead or Valley Health Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
