ST. JOHNSVILLE- Bertelle Ward, 88, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2010 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, St. Johnsville, NY with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 1, 1921 in Canajoharie, the daughter of the late Lewis and Sophie (Kiechle) Frosch. She was a lifelong area resident. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in St. Johnsville. Bertelle was a loving mother who, after the loss of her husband, sacrificed for the sake of her children. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Bertelle is survived by her children: Jack (Elsie) Buccolo of Canajoharie, Fonda (Bill) Swank of Amsterdam, Judy (John) Swartz of St. Johnsville and her beloved daughter Shelley Ward of St. Johnsville ; her grandchildren ; Joe Hardy of Buffalo, Chris Mayton of St. Johnsville, Brian Reese of Dolgeville, Sherman Swank of Amsterdam, Cindy Haughton of Little Falls, Jack Buccolo Jr. of Canajoharie and Mike Buccolo of Oppenheim. She had 18 Great Grandchildren: Amanda, Jason, Walter, Tyler, Christopher, Zachary, Samantha, Brian, Michael, Jackie, Justin, Brice, Brittney, Kirsten, Jonathan, Kimber, Michael and Nicholas and 1 Great Great Grandson Benjamin. She was predeceased by her brother Bernard Frosch. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St. St. Johnsville, NY on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 from 3-5pm. A religious service will be held at Enea Family Funeral Home on Thursday February 18, 2010 at 2pm with the Reverend David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the spring of 2010 at the Prospect Hill Cemetery in Canajoharie. The family of Bertelle Ward would like to thank many of the staff at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their care. She felt as if you were her family for the last 10 years. Also, thanks to the wonderful staff of Mountain Valley Hospice of Gloversville: Robin, Missy and the Rev. R.W. Williams.
