Bernard Mancini

St. Johnsville-Mr. Bernard Mancini, 88, of Kingsbury Ave., entered into eternal rest peacefully on Monday September 8,2008 at his home. He was born February 4,1920 in Syracuse, son of the late Joseph and Myrtle (Loucks) Mancini. On June 7,1941, he was joined in marriage with Ellen Coso in the Catskills. At the age of 20, Bernard enlisted in the United Stated Army Air Corps serving during WWII. Bernard was employed as a custodian at St. Johnsville Central School and was Parts Manager at Hubbard Chevrolet in West St. Johnsville and also worked at Palatine Dye and L T Waner in Palatine Bridge. Bernard joined the Boy Scouts in 1932 where he was an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver and Vigil Honour Of Order of the Arrow. He was very active in the community: Past President 2x and Treasurer of the Rotary; Past President and member of the St. Johnsville School Board from the 1960s-1980; St. Johnsville Zoning and Planning Board, St Johnsville Margaret Reaney Memorial Library Board; Past President and member of the BOCES Fulton/ Hamilton Montgomery County; St Johnsville Seniors; St. Johnsville American Legion Post #0168 and Eucharistic Minister and money counter at St. Patricks R.C. Church. He also was a driver and dispatcher for SAVAC Ambulance. Survivors include his daughter: Vickie Chiodo of Chelmsford,MA; grandson: Anthony Chiodo and his wife Stephanie of Woburn, MA; a sister: Helen Bottomley of Scotsdale AZ; devoted friend of Susie Corso and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home (St. Johnsville) from 6-9 pm on Friday September 12,2008. Mr. Mancini's funeral will commence at 9:30am on Saturday Sept. 13 from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered and at 10:00am from St. Patricks Roman Catholic Church, St. Johnsville for his Mass of Christian Burial. Procession will follow to St. Johnsville Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest along side his wife Ellen. Military honors will be offered by the U.S. Air Force.
