Benjamin A. Janes

HERKIMER - Benjamin A. Janes passed away on July 25th, 2025. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Ben was 39 years old. Ben was born on January 8th, 1986, in Heidelberg, Germany to Dale and Patricia (Perry) Janes.

Ben had a heart of gold and was very loved. He had his struggles and still his heart found a way to show through and make an impact on all who knew him. He was an honorary uncle to so many of his cousins and friends’ kids. Ben was never afraid of hard work, if you needed help, you could count on Ben to be there and lend a hand. Benjamin affectionately loved almost as hard as he hugged. He showed this love through countless acts of service for those he cherished most. Ben enjoyed fishing, milkshakes, video games, spending time with friends, and most of all his furry son Jack. He will be missed by many.

Ben is survived by his father Dale Janes, his sister Amanda (Colby) Mergenthaler, and his brother-in-law Jon Morehouse. His nieces and nephews; Ari Janes, Alyssa (Tyler) Martin, Alice Morehouse, Dante Mergenthaler, Hunter Smith (Izzy S.), Jacob Mergenthaler, Landon Morehouse, and Trey Guyer. As well as his great niece Lillian Martin, his Aunt Marileigh (John) Filipczuk, Aunt Linda (Joe) Brewer, his best friends Roger (Shelby) Klein and Keith Dwyer (Danielle Cramer) and his special chosen niece Haiylee, along with so many loved cousins, family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved mother Patricia Janes, his fiancée Carrie Greenland, his sister Jacqueline L. Morehouse, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his Aunt Cyndi Perry, Aunt Marcia Crosset, and his Uncle David Perry.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Enea Family Funeral Home, and his services will be held on August 5th, 2025, 11:00am -12:00pm at Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, NY 13350.
