Beatrice C. Wheelock

TOWN OF LITCHFIELD - Mrs. Beatrice (Eugene Sr.) C. Wheelock, 80, retiree from Remington Arms, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away unexpectedly, on Tuesday, September 26, 2023.
Bea was born on October 17, 1942, in Cooperstown, a daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Miller) Barrett. She was educated in several school districts in the Cherry Valley area eventually graduating from Springfield Central School.
On October 1, 1966, she married Eugene A. Wheelock Sr., in Richfield Springs Federated Church. Bea enjoyed life and in particular baking, gardening, dancing, gaming and she was best known as “Grandma Bea” to all. She was an active member of the Women of the Moose, Ilion Chapter, for over 20 years.
She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Kim (David) Overrocker, Sandra (Doug) Altrock and Eugene Wheelock Jr.; ten grandchildren and their spouses, Joshua Overrocker, Ryan (Brittany) Overrocker, Kelly (Stephen) Lenard, Keith (Catherine) Entwistle, Christopher (Stephanie) Entwistle, Katie (Kristopher) Eddy, Chelsea (Nicolas) Maida, Jaqueline Wheelock, Jennifer (Ethan Ostrander) Wheelock and Dylan (Brooke) Wheelock; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Caroline (Harry) Taylor; two brothers, Kenneth and Gary (Barb) Barrett; several nieces and nephews; her life-long friends, Nancy Donahoe and Linda and Eddy Fox.
She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene Wheelock Sr.; her parents, Kenneth and Mary Barrett; two brothers and a sister, Gordon, David and Francis.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours and a simple Graveside Service will be held for the family.
The family would like to thank the volunteers from the Cedarville Fire Department that responded as well as Edwards Ambulance.
In lieu of floral offerings kindly consider contributions in Bea’s memory to the Cedarville Fire Department, 960 State Route 51, Ilion, NY 13357.
Bea’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
