Barbara R. Steciak

DOLGEVILLE – Mrs. Barbara R. Steciak, 85, died on August 13, 2021, at her place of residence, on East Monroe Street, in Little Falls.

She was born on May 13, 1936, in Utica, New York, a daughter of the late Wesley and Elizabeth Robertson. She was married to Peter Steciak, on February 14, 1966. Barbie was well – known throughout the Valley having owned The Little Posy Shop, in Little Falls for several years. She then opened Fancy That Gift Shop in Dolgeville and then went on to establish a Women's Boutique, in Saratoga, known as Saratoga Trunk. She and her husband then moved to Beaufort, South Carolina, where they managed a Bed and Breakfast. Also, Barbie was known for her specialized Ladies Hats; “Hats by Miss Barbie.” For their retirement, Mr. & Mrs. Steciak moved back to the Mohawk Valley.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wesley and Elizabeth; her husband, Peter, on April 27, 2015; and very tragically by her three daughters, as a result of an airplane crash, Kimber Lee Steciak, Kelly Erin Duga and Kari Lynn Steciak, on January 22, 1984. Also, she was predeceased by her sister, Sandra; and her brothers, James and Michael.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 1:00 PM, at Dolgeville Cemetery, with Father Brian Slezak, officiating and then entombment will take place.
