HERKIMER - Barbara Bobbitt, age 71, of Pine Grove Rd., in East Herkimer, passed away, on Friday morning, October 11, 2024, at Bassett Hospital, in Cooperstown.
Barbara was born on March 26, 1953, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Henry Bobbitt, Jr. and Mildred (Burns) Bobbitt. She was the oldest of four children.
Barbara liked to color and do crafts. She enjoyed watching TV with her housemates, her favorite show being, I Love Lucy. She also liked other old shows like Andy Griffith and cartoons like Shrek and SpongeBob SquarePants. She loved to go on outings to restaurants, to shop, to musical events, to the zoo to see the animals (especially the monkeys) and to travel when she was able. Her favorite trip was her trip to Hershey Park, in Pennsylvania. It was probably her favorite because she loved chocolate and candy so much.
Barbara had a beautiful smile that lit up her whole face and such an infectious giggle that you couldn’t help but be drawn into her joy. When she was happy, she could brighten anyone’s day.
Barbara was always greatly loved and she touched the lives, and the hearts, of all who knew her. She will be sadly missed, but always remembered with love and affection.
Barbara is survived by her loving ARC Herkimer family, especially her loved ones at her Pine Grove Rd. home, in East Herkimer, her Day Program at S. Washington St., in Herkimer and her special family on the Guardianship Committee.
The Arc Herkimer Guardianship Committee would like to gratefully thank the very special staff at Arc Herkimer, who worked tirelessly to ensure Barbara had the care she needed and deserved and who were by Barbara’s side, night and day, in her final days, ensuring she was comfortable and surrounded with love, which she surely felt, right up until her passing.
A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at the Enea Family Funeral Home, at 220 North Washington Street, Herkimer, New York, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, with a calling hour from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., and a Service of Remembrance to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer will follow.
