IN LOVING MEMORY

Ashley Marie Faubert

ILION - With saddened hearts, we announce that on Friday, April 10th, 2026, Ashley died in a car accident and went home to our Lord.

She was born, February 24th, 1997, to John and Kim Faubert of Ilion. She attended school at St. Francis de Sales Regional Catholic School in Herkimer, then Ilion Jr./Sr. High School – since renamed Central Valley Academy - graduating in 2015. She went on to earn her associate’s degree at MVCC.

Throughout her school years she participated in AYSO soccer, Pop Warner cheerleading, CYO basketball, high school volleyball, track, cheerleading, and field hockey. She also participated in annual musicals, and NYSSMA. Ashley was one to try everything she could.

She was a member of the Mohawk VFD from 2016 to 2025, serving as volunteer, and then as department secretary for several years. In 2023 she was hired by the Ilion Fire Department as a firefighter/EMT and in 2025 she became a paramedic. She was also the secretary of Ilion Firefighters Association Local 1185.

Prior to becoming a professional firefighter, she was employed by the Manne Law Office in Herkimer of which she would say “Karl was a good person to work for”. Karl appreciated her work and treated her well. However, firefighting was her passion, she absolutely loved it. She had also worked for Mohawk Valley Ambulance Corps. and spent time helping Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Ashley loved the outdoors. She started camping before the age of one and never stopped. She loved hiking, fishing, hunting, target shooting, and sightseeing. She had recently discovered her love for traveling, visiting places like San Diego, Cape May, and quite a few Long Island beaches. In her travels, she was always sure to bring back a souvenir for her beloved nephews.

At home Ashley loved to bake and try new dishes. She had a knack for cooking. She also enjoyed reading, photography and painting canvases - which she often gifted to others. Her most recent hobby was keeping her house plants “alive”. It seems she was just starting to learn piano. Ashley cherished her time with all her nephews- giving them endearing nicknames and spoiling them whenever she could.

She is predeceased by Sharon “Aunt Sookie” Ashley, cousins Joseph Astalfa, and Rosalie Bristol.

Besides her parents, she leaves her boyfriend, Matt Allison, of Richfield, her sister, Vanessa Kennedy and nephews Cole Mills and Carter Kennedy (also known as “squish”), all of Ilion, her brother Dominick Kennedy, and partner Rob Hines, of Cicero; her sister Christina (Faubert) Marcantonio and brother-in-law Brian Marcantonio, and nephews Livio (also known as “golumpki”) and Brian (also known as “meatball”) of New Hartford.

She leaves many aunts and uncles: Joanne (Faubert) and Randy Astalfa of Marcy, Stanley and Suzanne Faubert of Marcy, Edward and Julie Faubert of Sauquoit, Mark Ashley and Lori Johnson of Ilion, Diane (Ashley) and Allen Baylor of Fairfield, William and Holly Ashley of Fairfield and family friend Barbara Marcin of Herkimer.

She leaves many cousins of whom she knew well: Courtney Astalfa, Michael Faubert, Vincent Faubert, Samantha (Faubert) and Kevin Bristol, Cheryl Faubert, Shaina (Faubert) and Cordell Stafford, Isabel Stafford, and Nina (Faubert) and Alex Hemingway, David and Jena Ashley- Lia, Hayden, and Luca, Eric and Jen Ashley- Henry, Cecelia, and Elianna.

Those who knew her loved to enjoy her smile, laughter, and kindness. She volunteered for many things in her short life. She had a heart of gold. She will be missed dearly.

In lieu of flowers we would encourage people to donate to the St Francis de Sales Early Childhood Education Program and Ilion Firefighters Association Local 1185.

The family highly encourages anyone who knew Ashley to register as an organ donor.
