Ashley Elizabeth Bennink, 35, passed away on April 2, 2024 in Syracuse, NY with her mother, Cindy, by her side.
She was born in Huntsville, Alabama on October 25, 1988, and spent most of her life in New York State and Oregon. Ashley was a special spirit who thrived despite her disabilities. She received her high school diploma from South Albany High School in Albany, Oregon and remained active in community programs during her adulthood.
Ashley would light up whenever music was playing at home, and loved listening to live performances whenever she could. She loved listening to stories and went through shelves of books read to her every day by her parents. Ashley enjoyed being taken on walks almost every day and had the opportunity to see the world with trips out in her community and around the country.
Ashley had a knack for communicating and holding conversations with others even though she spoke no words. She was vibrant, outgoing, and wasn’t afraid to be the center of attention. Her energy filled every room she entered, and her joyful spirit left a profound impact on those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Ashley is survived by her mother, Cindy Spytko Bennink; father, Allen Bennink; stepfather, David Devin; siblings, Jennifer Roseberry and Michael Devin; grandmothers, Patricia Dawes Devin and Marilyn Bennink; and various aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was predeceased by grandparents, Michael Spytko, Elizabeth Koruna Spytko, Gordon Bennink, and Carl Devin.
Additionally, we extend our appreciation to all the caretakers and medical professionals who supported Ashley and helped to make her time on earth as memorable as it could be.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a small graveside service, which will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls, New York on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 at 11:30AM.
