Antonia M. Mento, 95, of 1601 India St., No. 510, San Diego, California, and a longtime resident of Loomis Street, Little Falls, passed away Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at St. Paul's McColl Health Center, San Diego, California. She was born December 26, 1908, in Ternovec, Slovenia, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Finkst) Zehel. Antonia came to America in 1912 with her family and resided in Little Falls until moving to California in 1990. While living in Little Falls, Antonia was educated at St. Mary's Academy. On May 5, 1929, she was united in marriage to Henry Mento at St. Joseph's Church in Little Falls by the Rev. Spina. Mr. Mento passed away July 1990. Mrs. Mento was a member of the Holy Family Parish Church. Antonia, who was nicknamed Blondie, enjoyed many hobbies, including reading and playing cards. She also loved to travel. In 1978, she returned to her birthplace, Ternovec, Slovenia. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Altieri and husband Vito of San Diego, Calif. and Theresa Fenner and husband Bill of Copperas Cove, Texas; seven beloved grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Henry Mento Jr. in 1991 and a brother, Fred Zehel in 1956. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, at 9:30 a.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 20, from 5-7 p.m. All memorial contributions may be made to either Little Falls Hospital or to the Holy Family Parish. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
