HERKIMER – Mrs. Antoinette Delores (Nardelli) DeNigro, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown. Her passing occurred with the love and support of her devoted family at her side.

Born on May 29, 1926, Antoinette was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pasqualine “Jenny” Nardelli. She was raised and educated in Herkimer, and years later, while working and raising her family, she was proud to complete her GED. On September 7, 1945, Antoinette was wed to Peter M. DeNigro at St. Anthony’s Church in Herkimer, and together they shared in a blessed union, recently celebrating their 73 rd anniversary.

Antoinette was a talented seamstress who worked for many years as a sewer in local dress factories. Her last position, as a hemmer, was with the P&K Dress Shop in Little Falls. Her love of creating things with her hands stayed with her throughout her life, and in her spare time she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets for her friends and loved ones.

First and foremost in Antoinette’s life was her love for and devotion to her family. She was a doting wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love knew no bounds and she was always “checking up on or in on” someone in her family, as they were all of the utmost importance to her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Peter; and her daughter, Patricia DeNigro and partner, Lisa Gifford of Ilion; forever in her heart were the memories of her beloved daughter and son-in-law, Margie and Tony Loiacano, who preceded her in death. She also leaves behind her three cherished grandchildren, who made her eyes shine with happiness, Michael Loiacano and his wife, Julie of Buffalo, Nicole DeNigro and her fiancée, Noah Hopson of Mohawk, and Joshua DeNigro of Ilion. She was lovingly known as “Big Non” to her great-grandchildren, whom she absolutely adored, Megan and Brandon of Wheatfield, NY. In addition, she leaves many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. She wanted nothing more than to make sure that each of her beloved family members was okay and that they never went without.

Besides her daughter and son-in-law, Antoinette was predeceased by her five sisters, Ella Filipski, Palma Licari, Roccina Delaney, Mary Sennett and Minnie Fidele.

Antoinette’s family is forever grateful to the staff of the Little Falls ER, as well as to Dr. Kramer and the staff of the Bassett Intensive Care Unit, for their compassion and consideration during this very difficult time.
