Mr. Anthony P. "Tony" Martin, 86, of 612 E. John St., entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Thursday evening, Nov. 20, 2003 in Utica, following a brief illness. He was born on August 2, 1917 in Little Falls a son of the late Anthony Martin, Sr. and Teresa (Valentino) Martin and received his education in Little Falls Schools. He attended the Utica School of Business and was a lifelong Little Falls resident. On July 6, 1941, in St. Joseph's Church, Little Falls, he married the former Josephine "Phina" Martin, with whom he shared a dedicated union of 59 years until her passing on March 24, 2001. As a couple who were truly committed to one another, their love was evident in the mutual care and companionship they shared with one another. Mr. Martin proudly served his country with the United States Army. He was last employed with Sperry Rand, Utica. He was a communicant of Holy Family Parish, Little Falls. Tony was a man who brought joy and happiness to all family or social occasions. He possessed a truly admirable strength of character, great determination, and purposeful focus that was devoted to his relationships both within and beyond his family circle. He excelled in the roles of father, grandfather and friend, demonstrating his very best in times of need. Tony was possessed with a compelling dedication to music. He gained great satisfaction from playing the saxophone, clarinet and the flute. He played with the Tony Pastore Band and even the Utica Symphony Orchestra and was an accomplished musician. If Tony could give anyone words to live by, they would be, "Live life to the fullest and have no regrets." Survivors include his beloved son, Ronald Martin and wife Judith of Tyngsboro, MA, two cherished grandchildren, Lauren and Tracy Martin, a nephew, Tom Zuccaro of Little Falls, many special friends including, Joe Condello of Dolgeville and Agnella Brown of Little Falls. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Martin. Visitation at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls will be on Monday, Nov. 24, 2003 from 5-8 p.m. Tony's funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Tuesday morn., Nov. 25, from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered thence to Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where his Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife, Phina. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
