BARNEVELD-ILION - The world lost a bright star when Anne Marie Getman passed away peacefully, at her home, in Barneveld, after a brief illness, on March 24, 2022.
Born in Ilion, NY, on September 27, 1962, Anne graduated from St. Lawrence University and Cornell Law School. She dedicated her law career to helping families through the Lewis, Herkimer and Oneida County family court systems. However, her most cherished role was as a mother and she took great pride in celebrating the many talents and accomplishments of her three children, Colin, Kathryn and Meaghen Baldwin.
Anne loved baking and cooking and enjoyed discovering and experimenting with new recipes and sharing them with others. Anne also had a passion for running, completing over 25 Boilermakers, numerous local races and the Marine Corps Marathon. She had an inquisitive mind and enjoyed meeting new people and exploring new places. Her genuine interest in and compassion for others shined through in these encounters. Anne also loved traditions and many enjoyed the delicious samples from the annual holiday cookie exchange she hosted for many years. She particularly enjoyed the family’s annual treks to Maine.
Anne was the daughter of the late George and Hazel Ross Getman and leaves behind her husband, Robert Baldwin and their three children, Colin, Kathryn and Meaghen Baldwin. She also leaves eight brothers and sisters and their families, G. Stephen (Suzanne) Getman, Ilion, Susan Cadwallader, Bristol, VA, Margaret Getman, St. Paul, MN, William (Suzanne) Getman, Waterville, Sarah (Jeffrey) Steele, Eaton, Carole (Howard) Halpin, So. Windsor, CT, Ross (Maureen) Getman, Syracuse and Gail (Joel) Prosser, Cape Coral, FL.
A Celebration of Anne’s Life will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 7835 Church St., Holland Patent, NY.
