Ann Noffer

d. April 25, 2003

Mrs. Ann C. Noffer, 81, of 611 Second Ave., Frankfort, passed away Friday evening, April 25, 2003, at the Valley Health Services in Herkimer. She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Utica, the daughter of the late Silas and Anna (Murphy) Garnsey, and began her education in Utica schools. She later went on to schools in Ilion. She had lived the majority of her life in the Ilion-Frankfort areas. On Aug. 27, 1939, Ann joined in marriage with Leslie F. Noffer at Annunciation Church in Ilion. Throughout their 64-year union the couple enjoyed their devotion to one another and compatibility. They truly enjoyed each other's company and their love toward their family was unconditional. Ann was a member of the Church of Annunciation in Ilion, along with the Catholic Daughters. Ann was committed to the well being and happiness of her loved ones. She derived great joy from her grandchildren. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, along with quilting. She is survived by her beloved husband, Leslie; three sons, Leslie J. Noffer of New York Mills, Lawrence W. Noffer of Fort Johnson and Robert M. Noffer of Whitesboro; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie LaFayette and husband George of Herkimer; five grandchildren, Thomas Noffer of New York Mills, Scott Noffer of Utica, Christopher Noffer of Ballston Spa, Michael LaFayette of Buffalo and Jason LaFayette of Albany; two brothers, Silas Garnsey of Lynchburg, Va. and James Garnsey and wife Dorothy of Ilion; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family extends its gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Valley Health Services in Herkimer for their outstanding care and their friendly, courteous and loving attention. Their ability to create a "home away from home" for Ann was a source of comfort and strength. Family and friends are invited to attend visitation Monday evening, April 28 (tonight) from 4-8 p.m. at the Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000). By family request, please omit floral offerings. Those wishing to do so may consider memorial donations in Ann's honor to the Valley Health Services Development Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The funeral will begin Tuesday morning, April 29, at 9:15 a.m. at the chapel of the funeral home, where prayer will be offered. Procession will follow to the Church of Annunciation, Ilion, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered by the Rev. Joseph Benintende, pastor, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Green Lawn Cemetery in New Hartford.
