Mr. Allen LaGrange Spencer 74 of 683 Rt 29A Salisbury Center, died Wednesday October 3, 2007 in St. Luke?s Hospital, New Hartford, where he was a patient since September 20th. Allen was born in Huntington Station, Long Island on February 27, 1933 the son of Cecil F. and Helen F. (Bowen) and was a graduate of Sewanhaka High School, class of 1951. A veteran of the United States Air Force he served honorably and was discharged as an Airman First Class. His marriage to the former Nadine Lyon took place on September 8, 1963 in the Dolgeville United Methodist Church. They recently celebrated 44 years of marriage. Allen was first employed by the former MDS Company and Momentum, before they closed and then went to work for the Dolgeville Central School system as a bus driver. His bus #78 was a familiar sight for the children on the Salisbury Center- Stratford bus route. Allen was employed by the school for 17 years retiring from there this past June. He was also a village Police Officer both for the village of Ilion from 1965-67 and the village of Dolgeville from 1990-92. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Little Falls, the Dolgeville Masonic Lodge #796 and the Dolgeville Rod & Gun Club. He personally enjoyed bowling, music and was an avid reader. His love of music was proven when he taught himself to play the piano. His family will always remember the love he shared for them and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Nadine, his daughters and their husbands Alle?na and Robert Rozman of Colleyville, TX, and Sandra and Louis Sierra of Canajoharie, a Brother Dirk Spencer of Nevada and his grandchildren Rebecca Rozman and Robert Rozman, Jenna Sierra and Connor Sierra, several Nieces and Nephews, Sisters in laws and Brother in laws, Special Friends Todd and Tina Willis. He was predeceased by a brother Gary Spencer in 1999. In keeping with Allen?s wishes there are No Calling hours or Formal Services at this time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Dolgeville Central School for an award fund to be established in his name for the music department.
