Alice I. (Helmer) Moss, 86, formerly a longtime valley resident, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, in Laurel, Md., where she currently resided. Alice was born June 22, 1919, in Burlington Flats, N.Y., daughter of Frank P. and Emma Stella (Pooler) Green. She attended school in Burlington Flats. Alice was first married to Robert Helmer. She later married Howard Moss. Mr. Moss passed away in 1986. Alice was a dedicated homemaker, and at one time was an accomplished dressmaker. She later enjoyed working around the James Ferguson Farm in Frankfort prior to retiring. Alice liked to sew, garden, cook and spend time with her beloved family. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jane M. Wells and her husband Darrell of Tennessee, and three sons, James "Jim" Helmer and his wife Fern of Mohawk, Kenneth Helmer and his wife Betty of Maryland, and Harold Moss of Frankfort and his companion Terry Huening; one sister, Mildred Fuller of Little Falls RD; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Paulina Krouse and Emma Chase, two brothers, William and Jay Greene, and her companion Walter Edick, who passed away in 1995. Alice's funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, commencing at noon at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 102 West St., Ilion, with Rev. Paul Smith, pastor of the Ilion First Baptist Church, officiating. Procession for interment in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, will follow. Family and friends are invited to visitation Tuesday from 10 a.m.-noon at the Applegate & Day Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
