Mr. Alfred J. Mosenthin, 91, of 365 Voorhees Rd., town of Oppenheim, died Wednesday evening, October 6,2004, at his residence of natural causes. He was born in Dolgeville on May 13, 1913, the son of Andrew and Eva (Dodszuweit)Mosenteen and attended schools in the town of Oppenheim. His marriage to the former Catherine Ganzmann took place on June 14, 1941, in St. Mary's rectory, Little Falls. Alfred was employed by the former Snyder MFG. Company of Little Falls and then with Helterline Lumber Company of Stratford. He retired from the Daniel Green Company several years ago. Alfred also operated a farm for many years prior to his other employment. His affiliations include a Charter member of the Hilltop Fire Company; AARP and service as a constable for the town of Oppenheim for many years. He also served as a deputy sheriff for Fulton County. He personally enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Catherine, of 61 years; his sons and their wives, Alfred L. Mosenthin of Dolgeville, Theodore P. and Sandra Mosenthin of Salisbury Center, Kenneth and Barbara Mosenthin of Rockwood and John and Colleen Mosenthin of Dolgeville; his daughters and their husbands, Donna Barto of Horseheads, Elizabeth and Edward Mosenthin-Masi of Alaska and Michelle Mosenthin of Little Falls; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brothers, William, Andrew and Harold; and his sister, Ann Winter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, at 4 p.m. from the Roberts-Buck Funeral Home, 3 Faville Ave., Dolgeville. Rev. Kenneth Sickler of the Rockwood Pilgrim Holiness Church will officiate. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are Friday (today) from 4-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Hilltop Fire Department in his memory. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
