IN LOVING MEMORY

ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Alfred Morrone, Jr., age 91, of the Town of Oppenheim, St. Johnsville New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 22nd, 2026, at Mt. Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY surrounded by his family.

He was born April 13th, 1935, in Waterbury, Connecticut, the son of the late Alfred and Charlotte (Croteau) Morrone, Sr. He attended Leavenworth High School in Waterbury, CT. He went on to serve our country in 1956 with the United States Air Force, having been honorably discharged in 1960. Upon relief of duty, he held the rank of Airman, 1st Class. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct and National Defense Service Ribbons.

He married the love of his life, Arlene Houghtaling, sharing more than 64 years. She passed away on January 26th, 2018. The couple were long-time residents of Wolcott, CT and were avid Christians and active members of All Saints' Episcopal Church until their move to Florida. He was a retired electrician with IBEW.Local 488. Upon taking up residence in St. Johnsville, one of his greatest joys was dancing at Lombardo's on Sunday afternoons. He also loved motorcycles. He was a loving father and grandfather, making memories for the family through the special traditions created.

Survivors include a daughter, Karen Langin (Donald); four sons, Bruce (wife Jacquelyn), Brian (Lindsay), Brett, and Barry (wife Marianne) Morrone; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Donald, Steven, Eric, Leah, Brett Jr, Jennifer, Barry Jr, Jillian, and Jason; 18 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Donald Fortier; & several nieces & nephews, and many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred, Sr. (03-28-1911) and Charlotte (10/26/1916), brother-in-law, Eugene Fortier and sister-in-law, Lillian Wooster.

Funeral plans are inclusive of a graveside service which will take place on Saturday, May 16th,2026 at 10:00 AM at Edgewood Cemetery in the town of Wolcott, Connecticut. Military honors will be presented. Family and friends are invited to attend this very special service as well as a reception to follow at the Wolcott Fire Department Company #2 located at 58 North Street in Wolcott, CT.

His arrangements have been planned with The Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center Street in St. Johnsville, New York.
