ST. JOHNSVILLE – Mr. Alan B. Littrell 89 a longtime resident of St. Johnsville, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, following a long illness.
Alan was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 9, 1935, the son of the late Roland and Gretchen Quick Littrell. He was a graduate of the California University System with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1964. Later he worked for the Air Force as a civilian employee. On May 29, 1993, he married the former Diane Burkdorf who survives. He was a faithful member of St Johnsville Catholic Church, where he enjoyed being a reader at services as well as Chairman of the church for six years, and was very active in all the fund raising and other events; the Morris J. Edwards American Legion Post # 168, serving as Past Commander and a member of the St. Johnsville Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoyed attending church at St. John’s Reformed Church with his wife, Diane.
Alan enjoyed hunting, gardening, and golfing, riding motorcycle, 4 wheeling and listening to Frank Sinatra, Big Bands and Golden Oldies. Alan was not a cat lover until he met Minnie and Micki, his 2 black cats.
Alan is survived by his loving family, his wife Diane, children, Kathleen Russell, Tonawanda, Christy Kohl, Warsaw, NY; Alan (Kate) Nelson, Niagara Falls; Jeff (Dana) Nelson, Michigan; Paul (Lynn) Burkdorf, and Randall (Corinne) Burkdorf, both of St. Johnsville, daughter in law, Lisa Nelson, West Virginia, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren sister, Dawn Hanifin, Ft. Plain; brother, Jackson Littrell, Oregon; several nieces, nephews and cousins and his good friend Sam Licari.
He was predeceased by a son, James Nelson, sisters, Lynette Schuler, Patricia Baker and brother, Roland Littrell Jr.
A Graveside service will be held on May 31st, at Ft. Plain Cemetery at 1:00pm with full military honors under the direction of Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St. St. Johnsville. There are no calling hours.
