Johnnie Hailston

MOHAWK - Johnnie V. Hailston, age 78, formerly of State Rt. 168, Mohawk, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2008, at Folts Home, Herkimer, where she had recently resided. She was born on December 1, 1930, in Maydelle, TX, the daughter of Tom Christopher and Dasiey (Wicker) Cleveland. At one time she was married to Joel Buchanan. She later married Earl Hailston on November 21, 1959, in Herkimer. He died in 1990. Johnnie was employed as an assembler at MDS, Herkimer, for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed reading, traveling and appreciated flowers. Her family was most important to her. Survivors include her children, Robert Buchanan, of Oneonta, Tim Buchanan, of Cobleskill, Teresa Knorrston and her husband, Dan, of Wilkes-Barre, PA, Connie Brown, of Mohawk, and Douglas Hailston and his wife, Brenda, of Mohawk; two daughters-in-law, Lori Buchanan, of West Winfield, and Trish Hailston, of CA; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Randy Buchanan and Michael Hailston; and several brothers and sisters. Friends and relatives are invited to attend her memorial service on Tuesday, December 16, 2008, at 3 p.m. at the Graves-Applegate & Day Funeral Home, 48 E. Main St., Mohawk.
