Melanie J. Steffen (Case)

April 7, 1960 — July 7, 2024

MOHAWK – Melanie J. Steffen (Case), of Mohawk, passed away peacefully, at her home, on July 7, 2024. She was born in Ilion, NY on April 7, 1960, to the late George L. Case and Joyce L. Case (Robertson). She was married to William R. Steffen, on April 22, 1977. She worked at Price Chopper, in Richfield Springs NY, where she was truly a staple and made so many friends. Mel enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden and on the CASE Farm, in Mohawk, NY. In the summers, she spent time at her “SHE SHED” in the woods having fires. She was a hard worker either decorating cakes and making the BEST bread or at home working in the yard or putting in hay with her brother, Allen. Mel was the most loving, kind, intelligent woman and shared that love, kindness and wisdom with everyone she met.

She is survived by her husband, William (Bill); her three children, Allie Nagele and husband, Cory, of Mohawk NY, Rebecca Smith and husband, Steve, of Waxhaw, NC and Marc Steffen and late wife, Jennifer, of Monroe NC; along with Four beautiful grandchildren, Alex, Claire, Audrey and Hannah.

Mel made friends everywhere she went and will be greatly missed by many.

In honor of Mel’s final wishes she will forever rest peacefully on the Case Farm, Mohawk NY.
