Ilion: Mrs. Maureen R. Kast, age 63, of Brennan Road, Ilion, town of Columbia, passed away at home on Friday, December 23, 2011.
Maureen was born on April 3, 1948 in Utica, a daughter of William and Eleanor (Martin) Woods. She was a graduate of Whitesboro Central School and attended nursing school. She has resided in the town of Columbia for the past forty years.
On April 26, 1969, Maureen married Jack L. Kast in Sacred Heart Church, Utica. Jack passed away on January 29, 2010.
Mrs. Kast was the "Lunch Lady" for Mohawk and Herkimer Schools on Radio Station 96.1. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Maureen is survived by her loving mother, Eleanor Woods, her loving children, Jason Kast and Erin Kast of Ilion, a grandchild, Jordan Kast, her brother, William Woods and his wife Cheryl of Florida, her in-laws, Sharon Jaquish and Cheryl Kast, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, father, William Woods, and a sister, Suzanne Zammiello.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family is being served by Edward J. Kwiecinski, Funeral Director, Enea Family Funeral Home, 4309 Acme Road, Ilion (town of Frankfort). Those wishing may make a donation in her memory to Herkimer County Humane Society, P.O.
