Donna C. Veeder

LITTLE FALLS – Donna Clark Veeder went to live with her Lord Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after a short hospitalization.

Donna was born in Nashville, TN, on February 7, 1933, to Harry Clark Sr. and Thelma (Black) Clark. She was educated in Nashville where she attended Hume-Fogg Technical High School. She earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s of Fine Arts at the University of Georgia, in Athens, where she met her husband, Nicholas Veeder. They were married in Nashville, TN, on August 24, 1957. She studied art most of her life taking numerous classes at Munson Williams Proctor School of Art, in Utica and even studied Chinese watercolors at the University of Beijing, China.

Nick and Donna moved to Schenectady, NY after their graduations from college, then to Little Falls and on to VanHornesville, NY, in 1958, where they started an organic farm. Donna worked at Mungers Department Store, in Herkimer, NY. She was a fabulous wife and mother and taught art at both Owen D. Young Central School and Cooperstown High School as well as numerous adult education art classes. Donna also enjoyed writing and co-authored a book of poetry and prose, entitled Rare Friends. She was active with the VanHornesville United Methodist church where she was a member since 1965. She remained a member for the rest of her life. She played the organ, taught Sunday School and held many other offices. She was a portrait artist for many years drawing portraits at sidewalk arts and crafts fairs and later in her own studio, as well as painting many oil portraits. She was an active member of the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts for many years where she exhibited her work and helped hang many shows.

Donna was predeceased by Nicholas Veeder, her husband of 57 years.

She is survived by her twin daughters, Katrina Veeder Kreamer and her husband, Carlos and Kristen Veeder Walker and her husband, Andrew. She had three beautiful granddaughters: Emilie Kreamer and Tarra and Karen Walker, all of Palm City, Florida; a great-ganddaughter, Olivia, of Port Byron, NY; Donna’s brother, David Clark, of Huntsville, Alabama; and Donna has numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service for Donna will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at the VanHornesville United Methodist Church. She will be interred there at that time. Her funeral arrangements are with the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, NY and are under the direction of Kevin Enea (315-823-2424).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts, 401 Canal Pl., Little Falls, NY 13365. Donna felt strongly about supporting art in the community.

Donna’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Enea, Ciaccia & Applegate Funeral Directors.
